Campaign Snapshot:
- Welcomed Nicole Weber as my Campaign Treasurer
- Reached over 50% of the minimum signatures needed to get my name on the ballot (if you live in District 1 and would like to help me get to my signature goal, send me an email!)
- My fundraising platform had been approved via ActBlue!
At times, it might seem easier to sink into despair. To let the darkness soothe us into numbness; however, this is not how we endure, evolve, and thrive. Much like my tendency toward compassion, I cannot help but be optimistic down to my bones. This strengthens my ability to look for and find solutions when faced with a challenge or problem. I have little patience for wallowing in the mud of defeatist feelings or those who see problems but do not seek solutions. I am not afraid to try new things, think outside the box, and create unconventional alliances to move toward growth.
I am a persistent woman, driven by my empathy to make a difference in the world and our community. In a phone call last week, I was chatting a bit with Nicole Weber. She has been involved in many campaigns across Iowa, from city council to state senate. We were discussing my platform and strategy, how strongly I feel about not running against anyone but running for our community. I also highlighted how I cannot help but be optimistic, hoping that we can work together to make the world a better place for current and future generations. Nicole’s response was "this is the campaign Cedar Rapids needs right now." I'm both humbled and inspired by her observation. I'm also so grateful that Nicole has decided to formally join my Candidate's Committee as Treasurer! Our collaborative efforts will continue to build momentum as we approach Election Day on November 4th and hopefully will earn me the opportunity to serve as the District 1 Representative on the Cedar Rapids City Council.
